Nevada Area AIDS Education and Training Center

The Nevada Area AIDS Education and Training Center is a federally funded grant program conducted by the University of Nevada School of Medicine.  The mission of the program is to provide education, resources, and assistance to health care workers who care for people with HIV and AIDS.  Trudy Larson, M.D. is the Medical Director.  The program targets physicians, nurses, dentists, mental health and allied health practitioners throughout Nevada.  Additionally, programs are developed to assist faculty at the School of Medicine with resources and up-to-date information for the education of medical students and residents in issues related to HIV and AIDS.

The Nevada Area AIDS Education and Training Center has two offices, one in Reno and one in Las Vegas.  Faculty teams volunteer  their time to conduct continuing education programs developed in response to community requests.  The program provides grants for community groups to conduct education and supports health care professionals who attend mini-residency and educational programs.  An in-state mini-residency for physicians and nurses is offered at the AIDS Outpatient Service in Las Vegas.
