AEGIS is a strong non-government database for HIV/AIDS information.  AEGIS also has the latest news from the wires as well as updates of conferences and other information.   It is well organized, part newspaper and part research tool.

AIDS Action fights the AIDS epidemic by ensuring an informed public policy.

Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) provides education and support for individuals in the Las Vegas area

AIDS Clinical Trials Information Service (ACTIS) has information about privately and federally funded trials on AIDS.  

AIDS Drugs is a database of experimental agents used in HIV/AIDS trials.

AIDS statistics from the CDC Centers for Disease Control  as reported by the federal government breaks down Aids cases into categories like gender, age, state, and ethnicity.  Some frequently asked questions are answered on the CDC site, which is helpful to those wanting to know more about transmission of the disease.

aidsinfonyc.org is based in New York. The site has a lot of information about most aspects of HIV and AIDS from treatment to advocacy.  A good site for health care professionals and consumers.

The AIDSLINE accesed through the Internet Grateful Med database contains 175,000 citations and references to HIV/AIDS literature.  The materials date from 1980 to present and focus on biomedical, epidemiological, oncologic, behavioral science, and social science literature. Some information on health care administration is also available.

AIDS Treatment Data Network is a national, not-for-profit organization, offering outreach and education on treatment.

AIDS Treatment News Internet Directory is designed for patients and health care professionals to find information about HIV/AIDS treatments, organizations, and services.  The site also features news information.

The AIDS Virtual Library at Planet Q is a well-organized site providing access to HIV/AIDS information.

American Foundation for AIDS Research is a non-profit organization dedicated to biomedical and clinical AIDS research as well as social research.

The American Psychiatric Association AIDS Resource Center educates, trains, and supports health care care professionals who handle mental health dimensions of AIDS. 

Ask NOAH (New York Access to Health) has an HIV/AIDS section under topics, which is for consumers with general questions about HIV and AIDS.  Pages in Spanish are available.

The Association of Nurses in Aids Care (ANAC) is a collective of professional nurses concerned with giving better care to HIV-positive individuals.

AVERT (AIDS Education & Research Trust) has information about HIV/AIDS for everyone from teenagers to pregnant women, from AIDS history to medical treatments.

Biotechnology Virtual Library is an information resource that provides links to pharmaceutical companies, universities, and other information that may be relevant to the HIV/AIDS researcher.

The Body is a HIV/AIDS information resource with expertise on treatment, infections, health, and nutrition.  There are also chatrooms.  This is a recommended site for health care providers and health care consumers. 

Bridges in Consciousness provides emergency, housing, and transportation services for HIV/AIDS individuals in need in the northern Nevada region.

Brown University's TB/AIDS Research Laboratory conducts prevention and vaccination research.    

CDC National Prevention Information Network is a database designed for individuals searching for prevention information. The Center for Disease Control is the lead agency for HIV/AIDS prevention in the United States.  The site provides access to biomedical and behavioral strategies to fight the epidemic.  The NPIN links page is worth browsing for helpful Internet links.

The Campus Committee on AIDS at UNLV has contact information and some links to Southern Nevada service organizations.

The Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) at the University of California, San Francisco focuses on the prevention of HIV and AIDS.

Center Watch is a clinical trials listing service for both patients and medical professionals.

Combined Health Information Database is a federal government database that provides abstracts, titles, and availability information for health education resources.  The site is updated four times a year with new records and listings.  AIDS information is one of many topics covered on this site. Several federal agencies have cooperated to create this centralized database.

Compiled Resources from the National Library of Medicine is a straightforward index of  HIV/AIDS Web sites, most of which are governmental resources.

Critical Path AIDS Project is a site originally created by people with AIDS for those inflicted with the virus.   While the site serves the greater Philadelphia area, the easy-to-navigate site has a ton of useful information for consumers and health care professionals. 

The Department of Health and Human Services' Health Care Financing Administration (in charge of Medicare and Medicaid) has information on pregnancy and HIV.  For health care professionals and consumers. 

Entrez is a powerful database maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information.  Individuals can retrieve molecular biology data and bibliographic citations from NCBI's integrated databases.

The Forum for Collaborative HIV Research within George Washington University's Center for Health Policy Research brings together through an on-going discussion those involved in HIV/AIDS research and clinical studies.

Gay Men's Health Crisis is a not-for-profit organization that offers support services to men, women, and children in New York.  GMHC also educates people across the United States about HIV and AIDS and serves as an advocacy group.

The Harvard AIDS Institute is a center for AIDS research offering access to research information, links, and Harvard medical programs.

Health Adviser has information about HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention, support groups, and research.  The site gives an overview on HIV/AIDS transmission.

Health Gate offers general consumer information about health, including HIV/AIDS on this "busy" site.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) from the federal government offers press releases on HIV, AIDS, and other health issues, summaries on conferences and speeches, and updated health information.

The HIV/AIDS Policy Compendium Database is a database, containing more than 2,600 annotated citations from policy papers of more than 50 countries.

The HIV/AIDS Treatment Information Service (ATIS) provides treatment options information.  The site offers multilingual information.  Recommended for both patients and medical professionals.

HIVdent was formed by a coalition of concerned health care professionals through grants from private organizations.  The site has comprehensive information about funding and oral treatment, offers up-to-date information about AIDS, and is geared to health care professionals.

HIV and Hepatitis.com has updated news articles about HIV/AIDS.

HIV InfoWeb is an online library that is for care providers and consumers, offering information on many AIDS related questions.  The site is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health AIDS Bureau.

HIV InSite, hosted by the University of California, San Francisco is a comprehensive HIV/AIDS site.  Information on prevention, treatment, research, and other topics can be found on the site.  Information about social, psychological, legal, and community aspects of HIV/AIDS appears on the site as well.  From the history of AIDS to the latest news and research, this resource seems to have everything.  Some information is available in Spanish.  The HIV InSite Links page also has a long list of Internet resources.  Recommended for health care professionals and health care consumers.

The HIV Molecular Immunology Database provides HIV epitopes maps, protein alignments, antibody and other technical information for the HIV/AIDS researcher. 

HIVNet has a long list of HIV/AIDS resources. 

HIV Positive.com offers general information about HIV/AIDS.  It is an easy-to-navigate site designed for health care consumers to answer basic questions about nutrition, living with AIDS, and treatment.

The HIV Sequence Database provides HIV genetic sequence data.

Immunet is a worldwide organization that provides news and information about HIV/AIDS.  This site is good for health care professionals.

Insights in HIV Disease Management is an online journal offering complementary subscriptions in United States.  The site may be useful to health care professionals.

International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care (IAPAC) is an organization, boasting 6,000 members in 43 countries.  IAPAC provides advocacy and education services for health care providers worldwide.

Iwannaknow.org is sponsored by the American Social Health Association for young people to learn about HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and teen sexual health.

John Hopkins Memorial Hospital has a site dealing with HIV/AIDS related medical issues.

The Journal for AIDS/HIV, sponsored by the American Medical Society requires a paid subscription for access.

The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) has a HIV/AIDS Information Center online.   The site is designed for health care professionals.

The Journal of Emerging Infectious Diseases is a CDC publication that tracks the trends of infectious diseases.

The Journal of the International AIDS Society is a peer-reviewed British publication that offers abstracts and full-text articles online.

Kaiser Family Foundation is a philanthropist organization that focuses on health policy, which includes AIDS. 

The Kids Care Aids Network is a resource for parents and young people to learn about HIV/AIDS.  Links to other sites relating to young people and AIDS can be found on this site.

Mediconsult offers online support groups and HIV/AIDS information for patients.

Medscape offers HIV and AIDS information.  The Medscape Web site is designed to provide medical information and to serve as a tool for health care professionals to improve patient care.  The site requires users to register.  Recommended for health care professionals. 

Merck is a pharmaceutical company that conducts research to develop treatments for diseases like AIDS.

Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gives disease and mortality updates.  

The National AIDS Hotline, contracted by the CDC to the American Social Health Association, provides general information about HIV/AIDS and how to access services.

The National Cancer Institute encourages the research on AIDS malignancies.

The National Center for Biotechnology Information offers access to databases, resources, and research information.  The site is for researchers and physicians.

The National Coalition of Hispanic Health and Human Services Organizations is a national organization serving the health and well-being of Hispanic communities, including those with HIV/AIDS.

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is a political organization that reports on life of Gays and Lesbians in the United States.

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease's Division of AIDS (NIAID) supports basic AIDS research on the pathogenesis of HIV, oversees clinical trials of experimental drugs and potential vaccines, and assesses the impact of HIV/AIDS on population sectors.  The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) provides support for scientists conducting research in developing better ways to diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases like HIV/AIDS.

The National Institute of Health Office of AIDS Research is responsible for scientific, budgetary, legislative, and policy elements of the NIH AIDS research programs.

The National Library of Medicine's Fact Sheet page lists, explains, and provides access to federal online databases and databanks.

The National Native American Aids Prevention Center focuses on  HIV/AIDS services and information for Native Americans.

The National Organization for Women covers lesbian political and legal issues.

National Pediatric & Family HIV Resource Center, based in New Jersey, handles AIDS pediatrics.

Nevada AIDS Hotline provides general  information about HIV, AIDS, and sex.

The Nevada Area AIDS Education and Training Center is a federally funded grant program conducted by the University of Nevada School of Medicine to provide education, resources, and assistance to health care workers who care for people with HIV and AIDS. 

The Nevada State Health Division has a homepage, but much of the site is still being developed.

Northern Nevada H.O.P.E.S. (HIV Outpatient Program, Education and Services) is the lead agency for HIV/AIDS clinical care in Northern Nevada and Eastern California.  H.O.P.E.S. provides outpatient medical care, education, and services for HIV-positive individuals.  If you are HIV-positive or know someone who is, you should start by contacting H.O.P.E.S.  

The Office of National Aids Policy is the Clinton Administration's site for the HIV and AIDS pandemic.

Partners in Information Access for Public Health Professionals lists and explains a variety of federal and organizational resources for medical professionals.

Partners In Vision is a medical group of professionals dedicated to educating medical professionals and individuals about CMV retinitis and other ocular manifestations of AIDS.  Topics: vision, ophthalmology, and patient care. May be outdated.

The Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group (PACTG) evaluates treatments for HIV-infected children.

The Pedro Zamora Foundation is geared to young people and AIDS.

Positively HIV is for people living with HIV.

Project Access collects and distributes information about medications.  Information about drug assistance through Medicaid, AIDS Drug Assistance programs, and national pharmaceutical industry patient assistance/expanded access programs can be found on this site.

Project Inform is a national non-profit organization that was created to inform individuals and health care providers about HIV/AIDS.  Project Inform is also an advocacy group for the development and treatment of HIV/AIDS.

PubMed MEDLINE is a National Library of Medicine database for finding literature citations and linking to full-text journals at Web sites of participating publishers.  For health professionals.

The Red Cross has an educational outreach HIV/AIDS Web site with additional links to youth resources, Hispanic programs, and African-American organizations.

Regional Services is a list of organizations, their services, and phone numbers serving Northern Nevada and Eastern California.

The Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention is sponsored by Indiana University and Purdue University to promote greater awareness of HIV/AIDS in rural areas of the United States.

The San Francisco Aids Foundation is one of the oldest and largest AIDS organizations in the United States.

The Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital offers links to health information for both medical professionals and consumers.

Savitt Medical Library at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is a valuable resource for accessing health related information and conducting medical research.

The Specialized Information Services for HIV/AIDS information provides access to AIDS related information.  The site was created by the National Library of Medicine and the National Institute of Health Office of AIDS Research.

Stanford HIV RT and Protease Sequence Database is a resource for researchers studying evolutionary and drug-related variations in the molecular targets of anti-HIV therapy.

Joint United Nations AIDS Programme on HIV/AIDS provides global HIV/AIDS information.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has information online about HIV/AIDS, new therapies, and nutrition.

Washoe County District Health Department (WCDHD) provides HIV testing, counseling, and surveillance.
